DescriptionSpark Creative Lab: Intro Digital Designs + Canva Creations Step into the digital design world with Creative Design Lab a fun-filled course into the basics of digital design! This exciting program introduces kids to foundational skills in visual and graphic design using beginner-friendly software like Canva, Google Suite, and Figma. Young designers will take on exciting projects, which may include creating websites, designing app interfaces, making social media visuals, and producing print marketing materials. Through both solo and team projects, they'll learn how to transform ideas into digital masterpieces, while building skills that give them a creative edge in the digital age. Our curriculum is packed with engaging activities that inspire and develop creative confidence. Kids will experiment with colors, fonts, layouts, and more to bring their unique visions to life. By the end of the course, they'll walk away with a mini-portfolio of projects and the confidence to keep exploring the world of design!

This course is for kids who have been introduced to the computer and feel comfortable navigating through basic skills such as using the mouse. Recommended for a mature 2nd Grader, 3rd - 5th Grade. Our curriculum is packed with engaging activities that inspire and develop creative confidence. Kids will experiment with colors, fonts, layouts, and more to bring their unique visions to life. By the end of the course, they'll walk away with a mini-portfolio of projects and the confidence to keep exploring the world of design! *Laptops are provided, 1 per student. Throughout the course, students will delve into the fundamentals of design thinking—a powerful approach used by designers, engineers, and innovators worldwide to tackle complex challenges and create innovative solutions. Taught by an expert in the field, students will learn to empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test, the core pillars of design thinking. Our course is Radically Student Centered, depending on interest and skill level, the curriculum may include a combination of the following: • Design Thinking Fundamentals: Understand the principles of empathy, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. • Product Design: Explore the process of designing physical products, from brainstorming ideas to creating prototypes with everyday materials. • Service Design: Dive into the world of service design, where students will design experiences and solutions to improve interactions and processes. • Digital Design: Learn the basics of digital design, including user interface (UI) design and user experience (UX) design, using fun and interactive tools. • Art Integration: Infuse art into the design process, learning how to sketch ideas, create mood boards, and visually communicate concepts. • Collaboration and Communication: Develop teamwork skills as students work together to solve challenges and present their ideas to the class.
