Cornish+“Cornish+ in the Schools”As one of the few performing and visual arts colleges in the US, Cornish College of the Arts has been a cornerstone of interdisciplinary collaboration. A hub for artists of all disciplines, Cornish is a lab for creativity and transformation, where students are empowered to become artists, citizens, and innovators. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of Cornish's culture; everyone and everybody is welcome. Launched in 2023, Cornish+ is the Cornish College of the Arts' invitation to explore to all Cornish has to offer. Ukulele Kids

DescriptionUkulele Kids is part of a series of school programming that we created to allow students to learn the fundamentals of music through activities that will create interest and excitement around playing, singing, and learning how to be a musician. Music Matters: Ukulele is a class that introduces young learners to the basics of ukulele and overall musicianship. Classes will focus on: tuning, holding, strumming and mastering a basic set of chords. Students will learn songs with increasing levels of difficulty that are meant to introduce different chords and senses of musicality. While incorporating songs from other traditions and languages, including Spanish and Portuguese, students will basic music theory, ear training, music appreciation, and learn about the artists and songs they are listening to. While playing and singing, students will leave with a positive association with music and a few songs under their belt!

Comics Studio

DescriptionBring stories to life! In Comics Studio, students will learn the art of visual storytelling, from creating dynamic characters to designing captivating storyboard panels. By exploring drawing techniques, developing unique styles, students will create their own storyboards that go beyond the comic book. For aspiring artists and storytellers alike, this program combines fun, imagination, and skill-building in a supportive, collaborative environment. No prior experience required—just a love for story and illustration!

Cornish+ Voices (Previously Cornish+ Choir)

DescriptionEverybody sing! Cornish+ Voices is a vocal ensemble for people with varied musical abilities, open to complete beginners and experienced musicians alike, ages 5 - 99+. Knowledge of musical notation is not required, the songs will be taught by ear with lyrics projected. Musical selections will vary; expect to sing songs in different languages, American folk songs, current songs and welcome suggestions! Throughout this multi-generational ensemble, friends and family of all ages will join together in this truly unique choral experience that culminates with a performance for the Seattle community at the Cornish College Playhouse at the Seattle Center. We are happy to offer this experience to our Seattle neighbors, friends and family to learn and sing with your community! If parents, family members or friends would like to join Cornish+ Voices as well, please register and pay at the link below and you will receive a Homeroom code to then return here. *Students, family members or friends may also take advantage of the group pricing discounts when register together. Anyone who participates in one of our "satellite" Voices sectionals, not on campus, is able to participate in the on campus sessions. (**On campus sessions have live musicians!!) For example, if a student participates in a Cornish+ Voices after school program, that student can participate in the on campus sessions with friends or family that have joined this on campus session for free! Parents may also join their after school programs if they wish! At the end of the 10 weeks, all sectionals around the city come together at the Cornish Playhouse in Seattle Center for a final performance all together!
