DescriptionYouth actors in 4th-8th grade are invited to Join Charles Wright Academy and Theater of Arts Discipline (TOAD) after school for a month-long theater program for a 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film Moana. Students will learn basic theater and acting principles, choreography, and singing, all while having fun in the process. TOAD's mission is “to inspire, nurture, challenge, amaze, educate, and empower young theatre artists via top-quality performing experiences.” With our programs, we seek to stimulate, celebrate, and enhance young actors’ and audiences’ understanding of themselves and others through the shared magic of live theatre.
Disney’s Moana JR., a musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, brings the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR. Features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”

Disney’s Moana JR. follows showkit guidelines regarding culture recommended by the Oceanic Trust. This respect and careful attention to detail that the Oceanic Trust developed for the animated version of Moana was carried forward in the creation of Moana JR. for the stage.
