Greetings and Welcome to BULLDOG Flag Football!
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming season. I would like to provide you with some information regarding myself (Founder & President since 2009), our approach towards the game of flag football, and the plan for our teams for the upcoming season.
My first love as a 10 year old was football. After over 20 years of my life playing through Pop Warner, high school, and collegiately and now over 20 years coaching, the opportunity to pass on some of what I’ve learned along the way to the next generation has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
This season will be my 20 + year coaching youth sports & fitness, in particular football. I began my coaching career in the year 2002 as head Freshman coach at Serra while simultaneously interning as an assistant to the overall football program in the athletic department. After four years at Serra, I moved on to assisting in the athletic department at the College of San Mateo. These internships sparked my passion to run my own Sports & Fitness programs, and pushed me into pursuing a Masters Degree in, you guessed it, Kinesiology Sports and Fitness Management, (minor in exercise phys.). This was the foundation of Bulldog Sports & Fitness Inc. & Bulldog Flag Football, and my “first baby” Bulldog Gym in Menlo Atherton!
I am very passionate about the game of football and especially the process that goes along with preparing for competition. Developing player skills, bonding a strong and united team, and developing good work ethic during practices and games is what it’s all about!
It is my belief that, as the coach, it is our role to ensure that all of this can be achieved while having fun along the way. Our philosophy is that “fun” is when a team of players buys into the teaching of Sportsmanship,Teamwork, and Leadership, and plays unselfishly, THEN let’s go intensely compete. Now THAT'S fun!
The objectives for our teams will be focused on:
*building confidence
*self-esteem
*discipline
*sense of commitment and pride
*Learn to deal with adversity
*learn to compete
These personality traits and qualities will benefit them at whatever level they play.
We emphasize development over winning....
It is the coaches responsibility to help the kids develop strong skills, challenge them, and have them identify individual and team goals.
It is the player’s responsibility to begin thinking critically as it applies to their performance in practices and games to identify areas for improvement as well as areas of strength both as an individual and as a member of the team. I expect nothing less than their very best effort at all times and this combined with being the best unselfish team mate they can, is very important. It is important to have the kids prepared and ready to play, and at this age they need to be working on their core skills and applying them as a team.
I'm expecting that all of the boys/girls coming out to the practices / games will come with high energy and hard working attitude!
Love & Health,
Coach Law
